Mental Health Advocate
I’m fun loving, adventurous, love to help others and value life-long learning. I want to be on the advisory council to ensure that the app has input from the perspective of a student who has struggled with several different mental health challenges for their entire educational career.
Furthermore, I’m a neurodivergent individual living in a world that is tailored to neurotypical ways of living, learning, and interacting. For the longest time, I adjusted the process in which I naturally did things to appease teachers, family, and social standards to hide that my thought process was different. By the time I reached college, it became too hard to cope with trying to produce results and adapt to neurotypical standards that I had a mental breakdown. I want to help bridge the gap between neurotypical teachers and neurodivergent students by providing my own unique experiences and ideas in hopes that teachers can better address the needs of neurodivergent students in the classroom, so that students don’t feel as different, stressed, or restricted as I did in school.
